The first day of Jets training camp is more about who is not there than who is there.

Haason Reddick, the Pro Bowl pass rusher the Jets acquired in April, is not reporting to training camp on Tuesday, a source confirmed.

The Jets traded a conditional sixth-round pick to the Eagles on April 1 to land Reddick.

The Jets felt that the two sides had an understanding that Reddick would play out the final year of his contract in 2024, which has a base salary of $14.25 million, and then possibly do an extension after the season.

Reddick wants something done now. He did not participate in the Jets’ spring program at all, including skipping the mandatory minicamp.

The Jets expected Reddick to report for training camp. By not reporting, Reddick subjects himself to fines of $50,000 for every missed practice and those fines cannot be rescinded. The Jets’ first practice is on Wednesday.

The Jets and Reddick could find a way to sweeten the last year of his deal, but it appears unlikely the Jets will do anything long-term before the season.
