More family drama.
Jon Voight slammed his daughter Angelina Jolie for supporting Palestine in the midst of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
The 85-year-old actor called Jolie, 49, “ignorant” and “naive” in an interview with Variety published Tuesday.
“She has been exposed to propaganda,” said Voight. “She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the UN, and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees.”
Formerly a special envoy of the UN High Commission for Refugees, Jolie has spoken out against Israel for bombing Gaza in the wake of Hamas’ terrorist attack against Israel on October 7.
“What happened in Israel is an act of terror,” Jolie said in an October 2023 statement, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “But that cannot justify the innocent lives lost in bombing a civilian population in Gaza that has nowhere to go, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even the basic human right to cross a border to seek refuge.”
The “Maleficent” star’s father countered, “She’s ignorant of what the real stakes are and what the real story is because she’s in the loop of the United Nations.”
Voight criticized “naive” activists who say there are over 5 million Palestinian refugees in Gaza and the West Bank.
“They’re dupes who never get outside of their bubble,” he said, noting that Jolie is one of those “naive dupes.”
Voight explained that “it’s hard” for him to talk to his daughter about their differences.
“She doesn’t really want to share this kind of stuff, because she’s of another mind about it,” he said.
The “Pride and Glory” star continued: “I love my daughter. I don’t want to fight with my daughter. But the fact is, I think she has been influenced by the UN. From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing.”
After ranting about Jolie, Voight made it clear that his daughter is incredibly important to him.
“I love my daughter — that’s No. 1. I am happy when Angie is happy,” he said while holding back tears. “When she’s having a tough time, I’m having a tough time. When she is down, I’m down.”
A source close to Jolie told Variety that “Angelina wishes him well but does not speak about him publicly.”
The Post has reached out to Jolie’s rep for comment.
Jolie and Voight have had their fair share of issues over the years.
The “Lara Croft” actress was reportedly upset that her father cheated on her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, during their marriage. The couple divorced in 1980 when Jolie was 5 years old.
Bertrand died in 2007 at age 56.
Voight apparently had no idea about Jolie and Brad Pitt’s wedding in 2014.
Last year, the “Runaway Train” actor called Jolie out for defending Palestinians instead of Israelis.
“I am very disappointed that my daughter, like so many, has no understanding of God’s honor, God’s truths,” he said in an Instagram video.
“This is about destroying the history of God’s land, the Holy Land, the Land of the Jews. This is justice for God’s children of the Holy Land,” Voight added.
Jolie has never publicly responded to her father’s comments.
